The Morning that Turned Around

Well, unlike most mornings, this one started out horribly. I got to work late, found a bunch of stuff to do, and then, had some horrible news -- someone told me that one of my tires was flat. =/

I went outside and worked for about ~20 minutes in the 35deg weather, changing the flat. Now i'll have to see if i can find a replacement anywhere around here.

HOWEVER, there was an upside. I finally went to one of those credit reporting websites, and for $5, checked my credit score. See below :-) Looks like it's on to PHASE 2 of the house hunt!

Blaze a Trail!

Here's an awesome article on being a little more than a corporate drone. If you really want to set out to great things under the "protection" of a big business, then this is for you! The Art of Intrapreneurship (by Guy Kawasaki)

(Note: protection is used in the sense that you have smaller risk if you fail at doing new big things. Obviously, though, with smaller risk comes smaller return. Your choice.)

Most definitely the best game I've EVER SEEN...but no need to mull the details =)

Best Quote of the Night:
  • "Um, it's 4th and 5...i think we know who's going to get the ball..."
Worst Quote of the Night:
  • Matt Leinart: "I still think we're the better team -- they just pulled off the bigger plays at the end..."
Also a bad quote: "And on Tuesday, it's 'Emily's Reasons Why No-...Uh, I dunno"All in all, great run Texas! Hook 'em!!

Innovative Use of a Wiki!

Check out this guy (Main Page - Pete Ashdown Campaign Collaboration Wiki )running for Utah senate in the 2006. He's using a wiki so that people can collaborate and give him ideas on his campaigning.

This is where you have the power to influence my Campaign for U.S. Senate. You can help work on policy, strategize in an open forum, or simply see what needs to be done. Don't be afraid to make a mistake, I'm covering new ground every day.

I think that's a really cool use for a wiki! Seriously though -- once we figure out a way to optimally integrate wikis with discussion threads, I think we'll be on to the next wave of web pages. It'll be the perfect blend of content, blogging, and discussion, all on one page.

Cry for Help

HELP!

I'm working on something for work and am struggling with coding. Here's the gist:

I'm currently working on coding a Google Map that includes all the people in my program. When the user clicks on the map, they can see specific information about each person. Here's a quick mock-up of what it might look like.

Anyway, I'm struggling with the Java coding...so here's where I need some help. Is anyone even somewhat knowledgeable about Java?

Freaking Annoying...

So this kid wanted to "pay for his university studies" and came up with a crazy idea: charge advertisers $1 per 1x1 pixel dot on a page (or $100 for a 10x10 plot).

His goal was to make $1,000,000 and he's already 99.9% complete! How in the hell did that work? Anyway, here's the actual page with the ads running, and there's a preview below. (How do you even navigate the site?)

By the way, if you can't tell, i'm EXTREMELY jealous...

Think I'm going to retreat back to bed and figure out how to "pay for my life"...
